St.Chad's Centre
The St Chad's Centre Trust will build and operate a new community Centre at the heart of Bishop's Tachbrook. Trustees appointed by the Parish Council and the St Chad's Parochial Church Council are working to begin on the first stage of the building, once funding has been secured.
After more than a decade of consultations with community groups, planning permission was granted in 2011 for the construction of a single storey building on the west side of the churchyard, in material and to a design appropriate to the heritage of the location.
Overlooking the village green, the Centre will consist of an entrance lobby, an office, a 100 square metre multi-purpose hall, a kitchen, chair store, two toilets (one for the disabled), store cupboards and a cloakroom, cleaner’s cupboard and a plant room.
A wide variety of community groups have shown an interest in using the Centre, as well as others looking to provide activity classes and conducting regular meetings. It is planned that the Centre will be suitable for use by a wide range of groups from the youngest Rainbows and Brownies to the over 50 Club and for Adult Education classes. The Centre will also be a venue for meetings with the Police, setting up a CAB; hosting an MP’s surgery, a mobile Post Office or even Polling Booths as well as providing facilities for the Youth Committee. Private hire is also planned for birthday parties and other family gatherings.
