Horse Logging in Oakley Wood
The Friends have secured a grant of 12,500 from the Central Warwickshire Villages Leader Project. The grant will pay for local Horse Loggers to thin the more sensitive areas of the woods over the next two years.
This project will achieve low impact selective thinning in Oakley Wood using horse loggers and engender involvement by local communities in this historical land based industry.
The initial work will start on Monday 20th February and carry on for two weeks. Logs on Draught (http://www.logsondraught.co.uk/) will be carrying out the work.
Come and see Bruno, an Ardennes heavy horse, on Sunday 26th February 10.30am to 3pm, when Logs on Draught will be happy to talk to you about their work.
More logging work will take place at the end of October.
The Friends have arranged a Woodland crafts day on Saturday April 14th from 10.30am to 3pm. More details to follow.
