Welcome to Bishop's Tachbrook

Community speed watch catches 44 speeding motorists

Bishop's Tachbrook Community Speed Watch

Our intrepid community speed watch troupe were out and about last month.

8 volunteers recorded 44 speeding motorists across 7 sessions, and all received an official letter from the police.

The busiest session was from 4:30pm on a Friday evening on Oakey Wood Road, resulting in 14 letters in just one hour.

The highest speed measured was 46mph on Mallory Road during the school run.

It has been noted that people tend to drive slower when the CSW is in place,  implying the issue is worse than the data suggests!

There are plans and funding in place to further address the issue:

  • c£35-40k has been budgeted
  • 100% funded by ACL as a planning condition of seven acre close
  • Design & consultation 2020
  • Construction 2021

This was also mentioned in last month’s Parish Magazine.

Thank you to the 2 residents on Mallory road who came out to thank us and raise concerns with the speed of cars travelling through the village.

If you are interested in keeping our roads safe and you want to volunteer your time, please contact the parish clerk.
